Jackson was born and raised in Gainesville, Georgia. He is joining The Champion Firm team as an attorney after completing a summer internship with the firm during law school.
He earned his undergraduate degree from University of Georgia, graduating with honors with a B.B.A. in Risk Management and Insurance, before moving on to obtain his J.D. from Mercer University School of Law. Jackson received CALI awards in Torts I, Advanced Legal Writing, and Remedies during his time in law school.
Jackson enjoyed being a member of the UGA chapter for Ducks Unlimited, a wetlands and wildlife preservation organization, in college. He was also a member of the Mercer Law Review and served as the Eleventh Circuit Survey Book Editor for Volume 75.
He was drawn to working as a personal injury attorney because, as he says, “I have always been a sucker for an underdog story, so I think I naturally gravitated to ‘Underdog Law.’”
“I can remember sitting in my insurance classes in undergrad discussing famous tort cases and rooting for the individuals, despite the class discussion being focused around the insurance companies,” he says.
“Ultimately, a good outcome from a plaintiff’s standpoint is obtaining vindication, compensation, and justice for a person who has been injured through the fault of another. A good outcome for the other side, oftentimes, means protecting the bottom line of an insurance company. Insurance companies have sophisticated staff and tools that analyze and anticipate the risk they encounter. Meanwhile, people who are hurt or killed through the fault of another do not, so their lives are significantly interrupted when they are injured. It is very rewarding to fight for clients to help tip the scale back in their favor.”
More than anything, though, Jackson wants to be a positive force for The Champion Firm’s clients in their times of need: “While I enjoy the challenges and complexity of tort law and procedure, I think I look forward most to meeting with client’s and being a counselor to them.”
Jackson lives in Midtown Atlanta, which he loves because everything he needs is always within walking distance. And, while he is hesitant to use the word “foodie,” he does admit that that two of his favorite activities are cooking and dining with others, and says living in Midtown has put him in the epicenter of cuisine in the Southeast.
He also loves baseball and loves that he can get to the Battery in 15 minutes to catch a Braves game.
